brass is an exciting new financial wellbeing programme for Kirklees.

It’s been designed to help us all maximise our money, earning the most we can, spending and borrowing money in the most efficient ways, and reducing the risks and impacts that changes to financial circumstances can have.

Step by Step and Paddock Community Trust are bringing laptops and tablets to show people how they can search for jobs, access benefits and shop online. They will also be helping people to get the most out of their phones by downloading helpful apps. A bank advisor will be helping people set up telephone and internet banking and offering advice and support on all money matters including opening bank accounts.

Newsome Local Ecumenical Partnership will provide some taster activities including traditional table top games for kids. Growing Newsome will be sharing some ideas for saving money and making the most of local produce. Come and find out about planting, growing and cooking. We’ll also be serving some homemade soup from 5pm.

Citizens Advice Bureau will provide advice on saving energy in your home, tariff switching and understanding interest rates; supporting people around budgeting, debts, opening bank accounts and more.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards will be carrying out a taste test challenge to help people see the benefits of dropping a brand to maximise their earnings when shopping for essentials.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards & the Neighbourhood Policing Team will provide advice on keeping yourself and your home safe, with information on scams and frauds, avoiding loan sharks, securing your home and advice on telephone and postal preference service to cut down on mail and calls.

 

Everyone is welcome to attend this free community event, come along anytime between 2pm and 7pm – get advice, ask questions, meet new people and get involved.
