Highfields Community Orchard 5th Birthday Celebration

Highfields Community Orchard Orchard 5th Birthday
Sunday 22nd March 2015
From 1pm

Highfields Community Orchard, Mountjoy Road, Highfields, Huddersfield HD1 5PX

In March 2010, forty local people got together to create Highfields Community Orchard on a patch of unused urban green land.

On Sunday 22nd March, the group are celebrating five years of maintaining and improving this community green space together.

From 1pm, we’ll be weeding and tidying, and from 2pm we’ll be sharing fresh coffee, pizza and pancakes along with whatever food and drink you can bring along to share. Bring something to sit on, too. It’s rumoured that there will be a birthday cake again this year…

All welcome.

Orchard activity day – Saturday 28th March 2015

Saturday 28th March 2015
From 10am to 1pm
Hey Green Community Orchard

Newsome Ward Community Forum are organising a clear-up day at the Community Orchard in Lowerhouses. You’re very welcome to come along from 10am to 1pm to help with clearing the brambles and tidying up the site.

Do you have a wood burner? Wood will also be on sale on the day, as some work is being done to thin the overhanging trees earlier on in the same week. We hope that the tree thinning and the efforts of local volunteers will give the orchard a chance to thrive.

The Community Orchard is between Lowerhouses Lane and Hey Lane – look for the footpath entrance on Lowerhouses Lane, below Longley and Lowerhouses Community Church.
