Growing Newsome Recipe Book

A recipe and a bunch of carrots

We’ll be publishing our first Growing Newsome Recipe Book in 2015 – and we’d really like you to be part of it. We’ll be choosing recipes that match the character of our growing community, so we’re looking for recipes where the main ingredient (or ingredients) is something that you can grow yourself, or something that you can pick in the wild (sorry, no meat or fish dishes and no tropical fruit salad!).

Your recipe could feature vegetables, fruits, herbs, edible flowers or leaves. It can be any kind of food, including soups, main courses, snacks, puddings or preserves.

Growing Newsome is about people and the connections between us, so we’d also like to hear the stories behind your recipes. For example, if it’s an old family recipe, please tell us something about the person who passed it on to you. Or perhaps your recipe reminds you of a particular event or time? Maybe you just want to tell us something about your experience of making the recipe or growing the ingredients.

You’re also very welcome to send us a photo instead of (or as well as) your story.

How to share your recipes

Please bring your recipes along to our Recipe Corner at:

  • Stirley Community Farm, in the Cre8 barn
    Sunday 1st February from 10am to 1pm
  • Newsome Scout Hall, at the Growing Newsome Seed Swap and Potato Day
    Saturday 7th March from 10am to 1pm

Or send your recipe and your story or photo to us at: growingnewsome@gmail.com – remember to include your name and postal address.

The deadline for entries is Friday 20th March 2015.

If we feature your recipe, you will receive a copy of the book.
